چکیده

Recent studies have shown the importance of including seismic input directionality in nonlinear analyses for an accurate prediction structural demand on frame structures. This paper proposes a new method that includes multi-directionality forces Nonlinear Static Analyses (NSAs). Conventionally, pushover (PO) apply monotonically increasing lateral loads two directions typically correspond with building X and Y directions, case rectangular plan are parallel to sides. Since general direction is priori unknown, effects applying PO load patterns along varying angles studied this paper. Two non-code-conforming reinforced concrete buildings used as study. They identical design but first one doubly symmetric while second has significant asymmetry due translation center mass. applied both structures at between 0° 360° 15° increments. The results NSAs compared those multi-directional NHAs same angles. demands show more conservative than conventional NSAs, especially corners asymmetric- where they can yield significantly higher demands. base shear capacities decrease intermediate interaction responses be captured thanks columns’ fiber section discretization. On average closer NHAs, even though generally lower.

The Effect of Axial Force Variations on Nonlinear Modeling and Seismic Response of Reinforced Concrete Structures

In order to increase the accuracy of evaluating seismic response of structures, it is critical to conduct dynamic analyses based upon precise nonlinear models being as consistent as possible with the real conditions of corresponding structures. The concentrated plasticity model including one elastic element and two nonlinear spring elements at both ends has been considered within the research c...

Climate adaptation of existing reinforced concrete structures in coastal areas

This work focuses on assessing costs and effectiveness of climate adaptation strategies for existing reinforced concrete structures subject to chloride penetration and climate change. We will study on existing reinforced concrete structures built in France at different years under different building codes. Concerning environmental actions, we considered historical meteorological data and two cl...

Influence of Infill Panels and their Distribution on Seismic Behavior of Existing Reinforced Concrete Buildings

Infills can highly influence the seismic response of a Reinforced Concrete (RC) building: generally speaking, their presence leads to an increase in global stiffness and strength, but their brittle behavior can result in an increase of displacement demand if a certain threshold of seismic intensity is overcome. Moreover, presence of infills often leads to a change in the collapse mechanism comp...
